Entry Process
In an effort to secure good value for entrants and avoid undue risk to the host clubs we have adopted a three stage Entry Process for the 2012 Corinthian Cup. This might seem overly complex but it is designed to allow us to be sure of numbers before we enter into commitments with social venues.
Stage I Expressions of Interest April - September 2011
Expressions of Interest have been solicited by email to T&RA members, clubs and overseas associations and by sending posters to every club. We rushed out the initial emailing in April in order to catch the barely open window for the 2012 London Olympic tickets, with a newsletter follow-up in July, to catch the "pre-anniversary" of the Olympics and more closely targeted contacts in August. So far we have received 49"firm" expressions of interest with several others "in progress". This is a pleasing result given our target capacity of 50 teams.
On the basis of this level of support we have been able to negotiate sensible rates and outline agreements with social venues that, in turn, has enabled the entry fees to be set at very reasonable levels.
Since we are operating on a "first come, first served" basis, those teams that have registered an interest will be assured an opportunity to enter a team.
Stage II Team Entries 25 November - 30 December 2011
Team Entry forms will be emailed to those registering an interest, and available on this website, from 25 November 2011. We anticipate that the appearance of the entry form will generate still more interest and further entries, although these will only be considered once we have dealt with those that registered an interest in Stage I, and if there is still space. But, clearly, it would be sensible to submit your entry as early as possible since the "first come, first served" principle will still apply.
We have allowed five weeks for Team Entry forms and deposits to be submitted by 30 December, with a further week set aside for those teams on the waiting list to replace any "no-shows", by 6 January 2012.
Team Entry forms are designed to provide us with a firm indication of team numbers and to help us size accommodation wishes and likely demands on the tennis schedule. So although it would be extremely helpful to have all individual team members' details at the outset, it will be possible to add or amend team members right up to 2 April 2012.
We will acknowledge your entry once we receive the Team Entry form and deposit. When we have the necessary numbers we will confirm your entry and credit the deposit (thereafter non-returnable) to your Tournament account, by 19 January 2012. In the unlikely event that we do not receive sufficient entries your deposit will be returned, also by the same date.
Stage III Individual Entries 23 January - 27 February 2012
Individual Entry forms will be emailed to players using the details recorded by team captains on the Team Entry form (hence the desirability of getting that right) and made available on this website from 23 January 2012.
We have allowed five weeks for the Individual Entry forms and payments to be submitted by 27 February 2012. We will acknowledge your entry once we receive both and confirm your place by 12 March 2012. Once we confirm your entry the payment will be credited to your Tournament account (thereafter non-returnable) although changes to player names can be made up to 2 April 2012 and social partners up to 2 July 2012.
Individual Entry forms are designed to provide us with all the information about player and social partner preferences we need in order to complete our planning.
Next Steps
Once we have confirmed the Individual Entries the real work begins. We will make a start with detailed tennis scheduling, sorting out accommodation requests and refining the social programme. We plan that provisional pool allocations, doubles pairings, tennis schedules and accommodation allocations together with comprehensive social programme details will be issued by 1 May 2012.
