Tennis

Teams (of five to eight players) entering the Corinthian Cup will play four round-robin matches, one on each of the Tournament courts where possible: two at Cambridge and one each at Hatfield and Newmarket. Pool winners and the best runners-up to make a round of 16 will play up to four further matches in the knock-out stage as they progress to the final. Played off handicap, each match will consist of four doubles games using different pairs with no-one playing more than twice.

All players are also eligible to enter the Handicap Doubles competition at no extra cost, either with a nominated partner or one allocated to match handicaps as closely as we can. The competition will be played in two or three divisions, dependent on entrant numbers. Each pair will play three round-robin matches on different courts with a further four matches possible as pairs progress through a knock-out stage to division finals.

Feeling Lucky?

Furthermore, all players will automatically be entered into the free Pro-Am lottery. The first 8 lucky players picked at random will be eligible to play with a Pro. Those able to resist this offer will be invited to auction their place with the proceeds going to charity. Once we have 8 keen amateurs the Pro-Am pairings will be drawn. The Pro-Am will be played in pools of four, one at each club, with pool winners and the best runners-up contesting the semis and then the final.

And, as if that is not enough tennis, we plan to hold Exhibition matches in conjunction with the social events and a Handicap Pro Singles event. These matches will be played on different courts throughout the Tournament in order to give everyone a chance to see some proper tennis!

Match dates and details of the tennis programme will be available in the Tournament Timetable from June 2012.
